YEREVAN. – The Armenian human rights advocate is confident that the authorities are focused on preserving power, not carrying out reforms in the country.

Avetik Ishkhanyan, chairman of Helsinki Committee of Armenia, said the threat of losing power brought the country to Customs Union. Armenia is faced with danger of losing sovereignty and independence.

President Sezh Sargsyan announced Armenia’s intention to join Customs Union after the talks with his Russian counterpart Vlaidmir Putin on September 3. Armenia and EU adopted a joint statement as a result of the Vilnius summit.
