YEREVAN. – Armenian soldier Hakob Injighulyan, who is held captive in Azerbaijan, was pressured to express desire to leave for a third country.    

Rima Arakelyan, Chairwoman of the “Council of the Relatives of Missing Freedom Fighters” NGO, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Monday.  

As per Arakelyan, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan assured the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Armenia that the Armenian party will do everything to have Injighulyan returned to his homeland.   

In response to the query as to whether or not there is anything new on the ninety Armenians that are still held captive in Azerbaijan, the NGO official stated that if the Azerbaijani party wishes, there can be news.    

“At present, the fate of these ninety persons is being clarified,” Rima Arakelyan noted.

Armenian soldier Hakob Injighulyan (born in 1991) had found himself in the territory under the control of Azerbaijan. According to preliminary information, Injighulyan had turned up there on August 8 at around 3am, while carrying out his military service, by crossing the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR)-Azerbaijan border, and as a result of losing his orientation in the area. He was taken to Azerbaijani capital city Baku the next day. The ICRC was able to meet with the Armenian prisoners of war on August 20. To note, Injighulyan was made to wear Azerbaijani military uniform and give several interviews.
