YEREVAN. – The Armenian Ministry of Nature Protection closed around 25 artesian wells where fish farms were functioning.
Twelve wells were closed and another thirteen conserved as a result of work of commission studying the use of water resources in the Ararat and Armavir Regions.
The group has carried out checks at the fish farms and identified illegally drilled wells. Due to commission’s activities, it will be possible to save 795 liters of water per second.
As a result of checkups “Mkhchyan Fish”, “Amy Fish”, “Royal Paradise”, “Akvatekhavtomatika” and “Alex Grig” (the latter owned by businessman and MP Samvel Aleksanyan) were closed.
The commission’s goal is to combat depletion of underground water resources of the Ararat Valley.
