YEREVAN. – Opposition Armenian National Congress National Assembly (ANC NA) Faction member Lyudmila Sargsyan is for Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union, but not in this way.

Sargsyan stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Tuesday.

The ANC NA member added that she likewise realizes that security is top priority for Armenia.

But she also believes that if Armenia joins the Russian-led Customs Union, the country should not adhere to others’ rules, but rather it should dictate its own rules.

As for Armenia’s European Union (EU) integration, the opposition MP noted that by commencing the EU talks, the Armenian authorities were attempting to see to it that the EU officials would consider Armenia’s elections to be consistent with European standards, since the authorities had pledged to sign the EU Association Agreement.

“Otherwise, Europe was not blind not to see what was [really] going on [in Armenia].

“Today, Europe is no better off than at the start [of the talks with Armenia]. They should realize that people who are not accountable for their words come to power at us [in Armenia],” Lyudmila Sargsyan added.
