YEREVAN. – The statistical data shows the farther from Yerevan, the lower the birth rate is.
National Statistical Service official Karine Kuyumjyan on Wednesday presented the data on birth rate in Armenia.
The birth rate is higher than average in Yerevan and surrounding areas: Aragatsotn, Kotayk and Ararat Regions. The lowest rate is registered in the most remote areas: Syunik, Vayots Dzor and Tavush.
During nine months of 2013, the birth rate decreased by 1.9%, mortality - by 3 % as compared to the same period last year, Kuyumjyan said.
Crude birth rate made 14 per thousand people. Since the beginning of 2013, 30,400 children were born. The mortality rate was 9 per 1,000.
