YEREVAN. – To date the Karabakh conflict is a tool enabling Russia to manipulate Armenia and in certain cases Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani columnist Rauf Mirkadirov said.

An international conference on security and cooperation in the South Caucasus was held in Ankara. One of the meetings was focused on the state and prospects for resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Rauf Mirkadirov is convinced the point is not that Russia likes someone or not, the fact is that Russia has certain interests

“The latest decision on Karabakh in UN Security Council was adopted in November 1993. The last paragraph of the resolution states that the Security Council would return to the issue soon. Over 20 years the UN Security Council ‘is returning to the issues soon’,” he emphasized, adding that the interests of Russia and U.S. on Karabakh do not coincide.
