YEREVAN. – Carrefour in Armenia may face unequal conditions as compared to other retail chains, said Armenian Wine Makers’ Union President Avag Harutyunyan.
“Of course, I do not have exact data. But from what I know, they want to convince the French manufacturers to return the money for goods within reasonable timeframe,” said Harutyunyan.
As a result, he added, supermarkets can not transfer money for sold goods for months or even years.
“It turns out that trade chains are financing their development at the expense of local manufacturers. This is dangerous for producers, and the foreign companies know that. Therefore, the government demands that they must transfer money from sales within reasonable time,” he added.
Alcohol producers in Armenia will not raise prices ahead of the New Year, he said, adding that producers have released about one million liters of wine.
