YEREVAN. – Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union has not affected cooperation with the EU in terms of reforms in justice sector, said Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan.

The Minister said that the relations exceeded expectations, adding that an agreement on reforms amounting to 29 million euros instead of the planned 20 million has been reached.

Armenian government and USAID signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of good governance. At the same time cooperation of the U.S. Embassy with the General Prosecutor’s Office continues. Under the additional agreement, around $250,000 will be spent on the penitentiary system.

Hrayr Tovmasyan noted that a public council will function at the ministry from the next year. In this context, he expects active participation of citizens in the discussion of the draft decisions.
