YEREVAN. – The Armenian authorities are unable to protect the national interests of Armenia in the international domain.

Political scientist, ex-presidential candidate Andreas Ghukasyan, who is also a member of the “Let’s prevent the [natural] gas price hike” initiative, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Saturday. 

Ghukasyan added that the National Assembly discussions on the Armenia-Russia gas supply agreements showed that the entire Armenian political field faces a challenge.   

The political scientist expressed confidence that the Armenian authorities are lying about the gas-related deals.  

In the ex-presidential candidate’s words, a preferential situation has been created in Armenia for the Russian energy giant Gazprom Company, ever since 2002. 

“And the sale [to Gazprom] of the [remaining] 20 percent of the ArmRusGazprom [Company of Armenia] shares that belong to the Government of Armenia shows that Armenia’s property can be confiscated, taken custody of, outside Armenia, [and] without the consent of Armenia,” Andreas Ghukasyan stated.
