Saakashvili blames Russia for assisting instability in Caucasus.

In his April 21 interview with Associated Press, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili blamed Russia for assisting instability in Caucasus.

Saakashvili stated that separatists seek to take advantage of the situation in the Caucasus and use territory of Georgia as well as self-appointed Abkhazia and South Ossetia for illegal enriched uranium trade, that can be used for production of nuclear warheads. He also recalled that Russia continues to build up military presence in the separated republics, jeopardizing Georgia’s security. “Russia has both an opportunity and intention to overthrow our government,” K2kapital quotes Saakashvili.

According to him, in March Georgian authorities terminated attempt of the enriched uranium coming into Georgia, but declined to comment on the details of the seizure.
