YEREVAN. – The existing situation with respect to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict cannot continue for a long time.

France’s new Ambassador to Armenia, Jean-François Charpentier, stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Wednesday. The ambassador added that this is not his position, but that of France.

“It [, the French position,] is well known to you. [French] President [François] Hollande once again expressed it recently at the meeting with the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan,” the diplomat noted.

In Charpentier’s words, official Paris believes that the conflicting parties need to find a mutually acceptable solution as soon as possible, and which will comply with the wishes of the people that are the subject of this dispute.

As per Ambassador Jean-François Charpentier, France, being an OSCE Minsk Group co-chair, is engaged in a quest for conflict resolution and rendering assistance to the parties.
