YEREVAN. – France is ready to cooperate with Armenia in the construction of a new nuclear power plant.

France’s new Ambassador to Armenia, Jean-François Charpentier, stated the abovementioned at a press conference on Wednesday.

In response to a question on the possibility of French assistance to the construction of a new nuclear plant which will replace the existing plant, the ambassador noted that France is well aware of the situation. In his words, if the Armenian authorities offer a proposal to cooperate in this domain, France will discuss this proposal.

“At the moment, [however,] the Armenian side has not made such a proposal,” the French diplomat said.
