Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian’s official visit to Sweden kicked off on Monday.

On the same day, Nalbandian held talks with Swedish FM Margot Wallström, and noted that bilateral relations between the two countries have invigorated to a great extent.

The two ministers discussed Armenian-Swedish relations, Armenia-European Union cooperation, and urgent international issues.

Nalbandian noted that Armenia is interested in further developing the cooperation with Sweden. The two FMs also shared the view that the opening of embassies will give new impetus to the deepening of bilateral collaboration.

At the request of the Swedish FM, Nalbandian spoke about the ongoing efforts by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries to achieve a pacific settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

In addition, Edward Nalbandian invited Margot Wallström to visit Armenia.

On the same day, the Riddarhuset—that is, the House of Nobility—of the Swedish capital city of Stockholm became the venue for the official opening ceremony for the Embassy of Armenia in Sweden. Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian and the Swedish Minister for Strategic Development, Kristina Persson, delivered remarks at the event.

Separately, the Armenian FM met with representatives of the companies from the banking, energy, high-tech, communication, healthcare, and food sectors. He briefed them on the investment opportunities in Armenia and the ongoing economic development programs by country’s government.

On Monday evening, Edward Nalbandian met, at the Armenian Embassy, with representatives of the Swedish-Armenian community.
