YEREVAN. – Head of Armenian corrections department at the Justice Ministry Artur Osikyan on Monday received the delegation headed by secretary of Wisconsin department of corrections Edward Wall.

During the meeting, Major General Osikyan briefed the guests on reforms in criminal justice system. He noted importance of such meetings and expressed hope for continuation of cooperation.

Edward Wall for his part said he was impressed by a new building of Armavir prison. He had managed to visit Sevan penitentiary where he studied the conditions for inmates. Wall admitted that as compared with the American jails, the atmosphere was very calm there.

The delegation members briefed Major General on management of Wisconsin’s correctional system.

A delegation of officials from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections is on a visit to Armenia as part of a partnership program.
