YEREVAN. – No one has proposed Azerbaijan to become a member in the Eurasian Union.
The Deputy Minister of Finance of Armenia, Suren Karayan, noted the above-said at Tuesday’s parliamentary deliberations with respect to the ratification of the treaty on Armenia’s forthcoming accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).
Karayan added that there is no such issue on the EEU agenda, and therefore it makes no sense to discuss any related matter.
“In any case, according to the EEU legal framework, all such decisions are made with the participation by all member countries,” the deputy minister stressed.
Once the parliaments of the EEU founding member countries (Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan) ratify the aforementioned treaty, Armenia will become a Eurasian Economic Union member as of January 1, 2015.
