YEREVAN. - I would like to know what exactly happened at the dreadful night mentioned by the Armenian authorities in connection with Armenia’s decision to access Russia-led Eurasian Union, Armenian MP Nikol Pashinyan asked the government, Armenian News - NEWS.am reports.
According to Pashinyan, during the discussion of the Treaty of Accession of Armenia to the Eurasian Economic Union on January 31, 2014, when President Serzh Sargsyan met with representatives of the Armenian community in Prague, he was asked why did he not care to asked the opinion of the Armenian Diaspora on joining the Eurasian Union. Sargsyan replied at that time, “we cannot ask everyone in a single night.”
“So, can you tell more about that night and what exactly happened at that night?” Pashinyan asked.
In response, the Deputy Minister of Finance Suren Karajan noted that the decision on Armenia’s accession in the Eurasian Union was not made in one night.
“I do not know, about which night you’re asking. This process lasted for years, and I was personally present at the talks, as we tried to figure out, what Armenia will gain from future [integration] into Eurasian Union, and what will it gain from the European [Union],” Karajan concluded.
