YEREVAN. – Depleted resources of underground waters in Ararat valley started recovering for the benefit of residents, Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan said in parliament on Wednesday.
He noted that work targeted at closing illegal wells began in spring 2014. Until June, the Ministry suspended wells with a total debit of 253 liters per second, which will save 8 million cubic meters of water per year.
“For example, we recorded an increase in water in Etchmiadzin Region. Wells that stopped giving water without pumping, now recovered, although not fully. This shows that we are on track and try to fully meet the needs of residents of the region,” he emphasized.
