YEREVAN. – The rise in prices in recent days is within 5 percent, Armenian PM Hovik Abrahamyan said, adding that it is normal range.
The government follows the process of Armenian currency's weakening, and necessary measures are within the powers of Central Bank. It is important that the economy could possibly benefit from the positive side, and as to negative elemets, it is important that inflation could be justified.
“Together with the State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition we conducted a monitoring that revealed inflation was within 5 percent,” he told reporters.
This should not be linked to the internal situation of economic processes, since this is caused by regional developments, particularly the processes registered in Russia.
“I want to assure you that the Central Bank controls the situation. I am sure that in the next few days everything will be settled. In case of such large fluctuations, Central Bank needs to carry out currency intervention to stabilize the situation,” he added.
