YEREVAN. – An Armenian organization dealing with protection of historical and cultural reserves has filed a petition to Investigative Committee demanding compensation from the actions of a Russian hooligan.

Russian Federation citizen Maksim Nikitenko made an inscription on the black wall of Garni pagan temple with a special paint.

Expert commission said the damage amounted to 839, 390 drams or about $1,750.

The Temple of Garni was probably built by king Tiridates I in the first century AD as a temple to the sun god Mihr (Mithra).
