YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd daily has learned that the matter of dismissing Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan was discussed for a fairly long time Thursday at the “backstage” of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia and, subsequently, at the presidential palace, the daily reported. 

“There was a plan that Abrahamyan should resign from the PM’s position and be appointed head of the headquarters that will organize the process of the referendum on constitutional amendments (…).   

“But, after yesterday’s [, Thursday’s] talk with [President] Serzh Sargsyan, it was decided that Hovik Abrahamyan will remain the Prime Minister, which also implies that he shall have direct involvement in the ‘war’ waged against his in-law, [non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party Chairman] Gagik Tsarukyan,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
