YEREVAN. – Sweden’s new Ambassador to Armenia, Martina Quick—whose diplomatic residence is in Georgia’s capital city of Tbilisi—, on Tuesday presented her credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.
The President congratulated the ambassador on her appointment, wished her success, and expressed the hope that Quick will make the utmost of her knowhow and professional skills to strengthen Armenian-Swedish relations. Sargsyan added that Sweden is a reliable friend of Armenia in Scandinavia.
At the ensuing talk, they reflected on the present-day regional situation and challenges, and the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. In this context, Sargsyan noted that Armenia appreciates the maintenance of Sweden’s balanced approach toward the peaceful settlement of this conflict, and within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
In addition, the President highly assessed the Swedish parliament’s passing—back in 2010—of a resolution on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. They also spoke about the events that will be held this year in Armenia and abroad, and which will be devoted to the centenary of the genocide.
Furthermore, President Serzh Sargsyan and Ambassador Martina Quick reflected on Armenia-European Union (EU) cooperation.
