YEREVAN. – There is nothing yet about cooperation between seven political forces in Armenia, and it is early to talk about results. Opposition Heritage Party Board Vice-Chairman Armen Martirosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that solely respective discussions are in progress at present, and it is early to speak about the formation of a new political opposition in the country.

“Everything is being clarified,” Martirosyan added.

To the query on whether the new emerging force will come to replace the “parliamentary trio”—that is, the three non-government National Assembly forces (Prosperous Armenia, Armenian National Congress, and Heritage Parties)—Heritage’s official responded: “There is no issue of replacing; the format, the issues are different. Here the priority is about human rights, independence.”

Opposition Democratic Motherland Party Chairman Petros Makeyan, for his part, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that solely talks were held, and the discussions were consultative.

“The [relevant] processes are going positively; [but] I can’t say at this point what we will reach. There has been no task of replacing the [parliamentary] trio; the meetings have begun before the dissolution of the trio,” Makeyan said, in particular.

And opposition Founding Parliament initiative member Varuzhan Avetisyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that even though discussions were held, there is no result as of yet.

“Just a proposal was made to meet and discuss some matters; there is nothing concrete,” Avetisyan added.
