The Turkish court has issued an arrest warrant for the former chief of police intelligence of Turkey, Ramazan Akyurek.

After questioning, Akyurek, who was detained in capital city Ankara and transferred to Istanbul along the lines of the murder of journalist Hrant Dink—the founder and chief editor of Agos Armenian bilingual weekly of Istanbul, who was shot dead on January 19, 2007 outside the office of his weekly—, was arrested, reported Aksam daily of Turkey.

The prosecutor examining the murder case has charged the former police intelligence chief with causing death by negligence, forging official document, and abusing official capacity.

In October 2014, the Turkish Ministry of Justice had approved the filing of lawsuits against nine state officials who had held important positions at the time of Hrant Dink’s murder.
