Los Angeles City (California, USA) Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell introduced a motion, directing the Los Angeles Department of Transportation to name the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Western Avenue in Little Armenia “Armenian Genocide Memorial Square.”

The motion awaits a vote by the City Council, reported Asbarez.

“The Armenian Genocide Memorial Square will serve as a permanent landmark honoring the martyrs who lost their lives, and this community’s struggle for recognition and remembrance,” O’Farrell, who represents the Little Armenia neighborhood, told Asbarez in an email. “It is an honor and a privilege to start the process that will provide us with an opportunity to pay tribute to 1.5 million victims of the 1915 Genocide in such a meaningful and respectful way.”
