An exhibition devoted to the Armenian Genocide Centennial officially opened Friday in Riga, the capital city of Latvia.

The exhibits being displayed at the event are provided by the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in the Armenian capital city of Yerevan.

Armenian National Assembly (NA) Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov—who also heads the NA Armenia-Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia Parliamentary Friendship Group—, and the Ambassador of Armenia to the Baltic states, Ara Ayvazian, also were among those who delivered opening remarks at the exhibition.

The speakers specifically noted that the opening of this exhibition is an important step in human rights, and stressed that the Armenian Genocide is one of the greatest crimes of the 20th century.

Head of the Latvia-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Sergejs Potapkins, noted that unless the Armenian Genocide is condemned, the repetition of similar crimes in the future cannot be ruled out.
