German Chancellor Angela Merkel said western countries are ready for fresh sanctions against Russia.
However, Merkel said the sanctions are not a goal in itself, sputniknews.com reported.
“We do not want them,” she added.
Earlier foreign policy chief of the European Union Federica Mogherini called on UN to introduce sanctions against Crimea and said EU would preserve the sanctions.
