YEREVAN. – The Fourth Ordinary Session of the Euronest (European Union (EU)+Eastern Partnership countries) Parliamentary Assembly (PA) continued Wednesday at the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia.

The discussants deliberated on matters with respect to a review on the European Neighbourhood Policy, and the next Eastern Partnership summit, which will be held in the Latvian capital city of Riga in May.   

The European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, also delivered remarks at the event.

Reflecting on Armenia’s foreign policy, Hahn noted that the EU stands ready to continue collaborating with Armenia and providing assistance. The commissioner added that they will also continue their support to the civil society in Armenia.    

In turn, chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan, who is also Head of the Armenian Delegation to the Euronest PA, noted that all remarks will be taken into account, and the Eastern Partnership integration policy will continue to be designed.

As per Zakaryan, cooperation and political dialogue with the EU has always been important to Armenia. In the MP’s words, the balanced and multi-vector policy remains the core of the country’s policy.   

Subsequently, the participants discussed the EU financial support to the justice sector.  

Next, the parliamentarians conferred on the amendments to the regulations of the Euronest PA and standing committees, and accepted the respective recommendations.

And afterward, the Fourth Ordinary Session of the Euronest PA concluded.
