YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan attended the summit of the European People’s Party (EPP) during his working visit to Brussels on Thursday.
President Sargsyan delivered a speech in which he touched upon Armenia's foreign policy agenda and the reforms. The Armenian leader drew attention to the centennial anniversary of the Armenian Genocide stressing importance of international recognition and condemnation of genocides as the only effective measure to prevent crimes against humanity.
In his speech, President Sargsyan touched upon the efficient cooperation between the Republican Party of Armenia and EPP.
President expressed gratitude for the adoption of a resolution on the Armenian Genocide at the EPP political forum on March 3. He said by this move EPP proved its commitment to universal values and principles.
Serzh Sargsyan noted the importance of attending the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide by the summit participants. He stressed that for our people it is a symbol of the victory of European values and will be the most vivid manifestation of “Never again” motto.
In this context, Serzh Sargsyan thanked EPP President Joseph Daul for accepting his invitation to visit Yerevan on April 24 and his readiness stand by the Armenian people in Yerevan to commemorate the victims of Genocide.
