Turkish prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz, who was investigating the killing of Berkin Elvan, the young boy who died in March last year after spending 269 days in a coma due to injuries inflicted by police in Istanbul’s Gezi Park mass protests of early summer 2013, was taken hostage by a Marxist-Leninist militant.
A DHKP/C (Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party–Front) militant had entered Kiraz’s office and taken him hostage, reported Milliyet daily of Turkey.
It is noted that the militant claimed that if his demands are not met, he will be forced to kill the prosecutor.
