YEREVAN. – The goods that are imported to the Republic of Armenia (RA) from other countries are cleared from customs in other Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) countries, primarily in Belarus and Kazakhstan, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

“If, previously, most products from third countries were cleared from customs on the Georgia-Armenia border, at present, a significant portion of the cargo heading from Europe to the RA is cleared from customs in Belarus and Kazakhstan.

“Importers avoid clearing the product from customs at the RA customs house, since ‘inspecting prices’ are not applied on the Armenia-bound cargo during customs clearance in Belarus and Kazakhstan, owing to which the customs clearance becomes cheaper.

“The problem is that the RA customs authorities clear the products from customs not with their real prices, but with the ‘inspecting prices’ the very customs has specified,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
