Armenian National Assembly (NA) President Galust Sahakyan, who is on an official visit to Cyprus, on Friday met with Ioannis Kasoulides, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus.

The Cypriot FM assured that the friendly relations between the two countries will develop further as a result of mutual visits. And speaking about the Armenian Genocide issue, Kasoulides said the Armenian and the Greek peoples have a shared fate, as both nations have suffered from the inhumane acts by Turkey.

Sahakyan, for his part, assured that there is a high-level dialogue between Armenia and Cyprus, and noted that the legislative authorities are vested in a special role in the Armenian-Cypriot interstate relations.

“Armenia and Cyprus have always supported each other in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the Cyprus issue,” the Armenian parliament speaker added.

Galust Sahakyan stated yet again, however, that even though Armenia is against war, it is ready for it, if necessary.

The Armenian NA delegation, led by Sahakyan, also met with the co-chair and members of the interparliamentary commission on cooperation between the National Assembly of Armenia and the House of Representatives of Cyprus. The interlocutors discussed collaboration, and the avenues for further increasing the effectiveness of joint programs.

The NA delegation was also received by Chrysostomos II, the Archbishop of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus.

In addition, the Armenian parliamentary delegation paid a visit to the Byzantine Museum, where Galust Sahakyan also signed the museum guestbook.

The Armenian National Assembly delegation completed its official visit to Cyprus.
