Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has for the first time nominated an Armenian as MP candidate.

The AKP submitted its election list to the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey, reported Bugun daily of the country.

And well-known Istanbul Armenian journalist Markar Esayan is also on this list ahead of the forthcoming parliamentary election in Turkey. The ruling party nominated Esayan from Istanbul.

Markar Esayan was born in 1969 in Istanbul, and he is a columnist in Yeni Safak daily.

As reported earlier, Turkey’s main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), and the pro-Kurdish “Peoples’ Democratic Party” (HDP) likewise have nominated Armenian MP candidates.

Turkey’s next parliamentary election is slated for June 7.
