YEREVAN. - Armenia has proposed potential Chinese investors to resume the pure copper production in Armenia, Armenia’s Economy Minister Karen Chshmaritian said on Wednesday.
“The difficulty is that in the conditions of carbonic copper ores in Armenia, copper smelting results in big amounts of dipping acid, which is difficult to sell due to Armenia’s transportation conditions. In any case, we propose this project to all possible investors,” the Minister said.
In the Soviet period the copper plant in Alaverdi City used to produce pure copper.
