“Relations with the European Union remain as one of the most important priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy which is primarily based on the universal system of values”, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan said during his meeting with the Italian Chamber of Deputies President Lauran Boldrini and President of the Italian Senate Pietro Grasso in Italy on Thursday.
Mr. Sargsyan said that Armenia’s Parliament has formed the good tradition of creating friendly ties with the Parliaments of many European countries, and that it is high time for raising the Armenian-Italian inter-parliamentary cooperation to a new level, reports Armenian News – NEWS.am citing the President’s press-service website.
During the meeting, the officials exchanged opinions on the questions of Armenia-EU cooperation. Within this framework Armenia’s President underscored Italy’s role in the development of the comprehensive cooperation between Armenia and EU.
Mr. Sargsyan said he highly appreciates the cooperation with EU in such fields as democracy, rule of law, protection of fundamental freedoms, joint programs on sustainable development and effective management.
