As 100 years ago, political interests prevent the world powers from fighting against the evil, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan stated in the interview with the largest Italian radio television company Rai, responding to the questions of the famous CIS observer Marc Innaro.

“I’m afraid that as in case of Armenians, great economic and political interests prevent the international community from uniting in the struggle against the evil. This is unacceptable for me,” the President said responding to the question on the persecution of Christians by Radical Islamists.

“In the beginning of the 20th century there were countries in the Middle East, 23-24 per cent of whose population were Christians. Thus, you can make the relevant conclusions. The next step after Christians’ migration is the elimination of their culture. Afterwards, the names of the monuments are changed and historical facts are distorted, ultimately resulting in times when even specialists aren’t able to ascertain the fact of Christians’ presence", the President noted.
