After the first phase of the presidential elections in Poland, a referendum will be held in the country, and with respect to the citizens’ expression of will, funding of political parties, and the tax law, incumbent President Bronisław Komorowski told reporters. 

In his words, although the idea of such transformations had been circulating in the presidential palace for a long time, the events of the last days have demonstrated that the referendum on these three matters must be conducted in a foreseeable future.

Presidential elections were held in Poland on Sunday. Exit polls indicate that there will be a run-off between Conservative challenger Andrzej Duda, who received 34.5 percent of the votes, and serving President Komorowski, who garnered 33.1 percent of the ballots.

The National Electoral Commission of Poland will announce the official election results on Tuesday.

The presidential run-off is slated for May 24.
