Eurasian Economic Union and China are launching long-term talks on creation of a free trade area.
Creation of free trade area was discussed between President Vladimir Putin and China's leader Xi Jinping on May 8, but implementation of such a project may take dozens of years, Vedomosti newspaper reported quoting Russian officials.
According to the officials, the sides are studying regulatory framework and are working on joint infrastructure projects.
"Our goal was to sign as many documents as possible to formalize relations between China and Russia,” said the official who participated in talks.
Earlier spokesperson for the Russian leader said Russia and China will coordinate implementation of Eurasian Economic Union and the Silk Road projects.
