US State Department spokesperson “puts” Turkish mayor “in his place”

US Department of State Acting Spokesperson Marie Harf has “put” the mayor of Ankara, Turkey, Melih Gokcek—who had called her a “blonde” in an offensive context—, “in his place.”

Reporters asked Harf whether Gokcek will participate in the NATO conference to be convened in Turkey in the coming days, reported Sozcu daily of Turkey.

And Marie Harf responded that the mayor of the Turkish capital city is not at the level of taking part in that discussion.

In connection with the recent events that occurred in Baltimore, USA, Melih Gokcek had addressed Harf and tweeted: “Come on blonde answer now.”
