Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said the West had made mistakes in presenting Ukraine with a stark choice between Europe and Russia, reported The Straits Times.

“Unfortunately, while the Berlin Wall has fallen, the wall in our minds has not,” Cavusoglu stated before the start of the two-day NATO foreign ministers’ meeting starting Wednesday in Antalya, Turkey.

“Nothing can justify what Russia has been doing in its neighborhood,” the Turkish FM stressed, reported Gazeta.

Mevlut Cavusoglu viewed the developments in Ukraine, Crimea, and in Georgia in 2008 in the same context.

He also stressed that the Russia-Ukraine conflict can be resolved solely through political discourse.
