YEREVAN. – Since Armenia's joining Eurasian Economic Union, the security risks have increased instead of reducing, political analyst Ruben Mehrabyan said.

As to Armenia's security, the possibility of balancing the international arena is also limited after the decision to join the Eurasian Union.

From the point of view of expediency of the decision, said Mehrabyan, an important point was the prospect of economic development in Armenia.

“If we are talking about 170- million market, this market is in an irreversible process of disintegration. It has a system based on the decisions of one person,” Mehrabyan said during the presentation “Armenia, 4 Months in Eurasian Union: In a Recession and In Anticipation of Collapse?”

As regards rapprochement between Armenia and Russia, Moscow's influence in Armenia intensified considerably and anti-estern trend became noticeable.

“As a result, the possibility of Russia's pressure on Armenia has increased significantly, while the possibility to resist this pressure has reduced. Armenia is turing from the subject into an object of international relations, increasing the threat of regional destabilization,” he added.
