An Armenian sculpture, Centennial Cross Stone, will be opened on June 13 in Marseilles, Nouvelles d'Arménie writes. The sculpture will be installed at Sidi Brahim Square in 5th District of Marseilles.

Arthur Ohanessian, Deputy Mayor of Districts 4 and 5 of Marseilles, and Bruno Gilles, Bouches-du-Rhône senator and Mayor of Districts 4 and 5, decided to take part with their municipal team in the Armenian Genocide Centennial events with the help of a single symbolic project – installment of the ‘Centennial Cross Stone.’ The work is fully funded by private donors.

“This will be a monument not only to the Armenian Genocide victims, but also to the Eastern Christians, who are suffering a horrible plight now. Actually, in the course of several months we’re watching the tragic fate of Christians in the Middle East and Africa. They are persecuted in their own countries and driven out of their houses by the Islamic State militants,” Arthur Ohanessian said.
