Armenia and the EU are going to continue comprehensive cooperation in all the spheres and directions possible, considering Armenia’s commitments in other integration processes as well, Armenia’s FM Edward Nalbandian told Azatutyun Radio Station in Riga. 

“The process, which we had started with the EU as early as in November, the so-called consultations, were completed in March and we reached a common agreement to start talks soon, which also found its reflection in the Joint Declaration. We arranged that the European Council will confirm and approve the negotiation mandate of the negotiating team, following which we will start the talks in order to draw up a new legal document on the further expansion, deepening and development of our relations,” Nalbandian said.

According to him, the readmission and visa facilitation agreements, signed with the EU and enforced in January 2014, paved the way for the commencement of a new process, which will result in visa liberalization.  

“We will continue our talks and communication also with regard to cooperation in different spheres, this being to some extent mentioned in the Declaration. As to Armenia, Horizon 2020 project is mentioned, which deals with the sphere of scientific research, also promoting entrepreneurship, specifically that of small and medium enterprises, etc,” Nalbandian said.

“This means that today we have what we expected,” the FM said.
