The Armenian National Assembly (NA) delegation, led by led by NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, is in Japan on a working visit.
The delegation attended, on Sunday in Tokyo, the closing ceremony of the Armenian Cultural Week event.
The deputy chairman of the Armenian parliament also delivered remarks at the ceremony.
“We would like to express our special satisfaction that the Armenian Cultural Week event—which is an unprecedented positive step in the development of Armenian-Japanese cultural ties—was held from May 19 to 24 in Tokyo, within the framework of the Armenian Genocide Centennial.
“[But] even in the 21st century, we are witnessing the barbarians’ destruction of millennial Armenian cultural heritage, which [i.e. the destruction] is simply impossible to call other than cultural genocide.
“We must bring together our efforts to completely rule out such atrocities in the future,” Sharmazanov stated, in particular.
