YEREVAN. – The Armenian government puts up for sale “Hay Post”, the national postal service.
A surprise decision was made during government's meeting on Wednesday without any prior discussion.
The written explanation says the sale of the company will contribute to the development of postal service, will attract new investments and modern equipment, and will restore infrastructure of postal departments.
The company of Argentinean-Armenian Eduardo Eurnekian has been in charge of HayPost management since 2006. The company has invested around $20 million into development of postal services,
On May 20 Eurnekian was received by Armenia's PM Hovik Abrahamyan, but official statements did not mention that the sale of HayPost was discussed.
