YEREVAN. – The Armenian authorities did their best to support Syrian Armenians and continue doing so, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said during a joint media conference with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ivica Dacic.

Asked about his recent visit to Syria, Mr. Nalbandian said the focus was security of the Armenians.

“We are closely following the developments and trying to find the solution in terms of ensuring safety of the Syrian Armenians. My visit was targeted at the studying the processes,” he said.

The Armenian Minister is convinced that the crisis can be solved through immediate ceasefire, dialogue between the political parties, respect for ethnic minorities' rights, including those of Armenians, joint fight against terrorism.

“Armenia hosted thousands of Armenians from Syria. Armenia's leadership is doing and will do everything to support our Syrian-Armenian brothers and sisters,” the Minister said, adding that it was very important to meet with the Armenian community in Syria.
