The 31st annual conference on Cyprus and pan-Greek issues was convened recently in Washington, DC.

The Ambassador of Armenia to the US, Tigran Sargsyan, also delivered an address at the event.

In his remarks, Ambassador Sargsyan spoke about Armenia’s collaboration with Greece and Cyprus. He noted that the present-day ties and relations between the Armenian and the Greek people are a basis for active and productive cooperation.

Special emphasis was put on Armenia’s cooperation with these two countries within the framework of international organizations and in the military sector. The parties’ mutual support was stressed with respect to settlement of the Cyprus issue and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. 

Those in attendance applauded Sargsyan’s remarks that the National Assembly of Armenia had recently passed a bill recognizing the genocide of Pontic Greeks and Assyrians, and declaring May 19 as remembrance day of this tragedy. 

The Greek community representatives, for their part, recalled the Armenian Genocide Centennial, and in this context, they pointed to their strong friendship ties with the Armenians.
