YEREVAN. – On January 17, 2014, the Preclearance Control Department (PCD) of the Ministry of Finance of Armenia had discovered 928 kilograms of heroin in a truck being inspected at Meghri Customs Checkpoint, on the border with Iran.

As per PCD Head Vahram Guroghlyan, this was an unprecedented amount in the entire region.

Once the Court of Appeal decision had come into force, this heroin was subject to destruction. 

And on June 6, it was destroyed by burning in the oven of the Ararat Cement Factory.
