The next US presidential elections are very important and interesting for the American Armenian community.

Armenian Assembly of America Executive Director Bryan Ardouny, and Armenian National Committee of America Executive Director Aram Hamparian told the aforesaid to the Voice of America.

In Hamparian’s words, however, the election campaign promises and the real actions need to be separated. But at the same time, the American Armenian community should not become too unbelieving and disregard the pledges by the presidential candidates.

As per Ardouny, the US presidential elections enable the American Armenian community to present the candidates the matters of concern for the community. In his words, their main objective is to strengthen Armenian-American relations, and for the US to assist in Armenia becoming a democratic and economically developed country, where the rule of law is paramount.

The interlocutors added, however, that although the matter of Armenian Genocide recognition plays an important role in terms of the US presidential candidates’ gaining the support of the American Armenian community, the latter’s voters focus their attention on several other matters regarding US ties with Armenia.
