YEREVAN. - Armenia and United States have strong partnership ties at both bilateral and multilateral levels, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan said on Tuesday during the meeting with Anthony Barsamian, Board of Trustees Co-Chair of Armenian Assembly of America (AAA). The meeting was also attended by AAA Regional Director Arpi Vartanian and Board of Directors member Raffi Kassarjian.

The interlocutors discussed issues of pan-Armenian significance, efforts made by the Armenian authorities and different Armenian organizations abroad to solve them, as well as dynamically developing Armenian-American ties, opportunities for their strengthening, enhancement and deepening.  

Sargsyan and AAA representatives underscored the importance of the Armenian Genocide Centenary Commemoration events held in different countries of the world.  

Barsamian said that the Assembly is ready to deepen Armenian-American friendly and partnership ties via new initiatives and ideas. In this context, bilateral trade and economic relations were touched on. The interlocutors stressed the importance of Trade and Investments Framework Agreement between Armenia and the United States, which will create favorable environment for the mutual trade, attracting new investments in the republic.   

Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the US government for the perennial support aimed at the economic development of Armenia, reforms in different spheres and improvement of democracy and civil society.  

Sargsyan also highly appreciated the role of US in maintaining regional security and stability, including as an OSCE Minsk Group member-state.
