YEREVAN. – The applications of Yezidi refugees from Iraq are accepted.

The aforesaid is noted in the response by the Armenian State Migration Agency (ASMA), and given to the “National Union of Sinjar Yezidis” NGO of Armenia.

On August 3, the NGO had petitioned to ASMA, with a request for issuing status to the Yezidi refugees that had come to Armenia from Iraq.

ASMA on Wednesday responded to the NGO’s petition.

“They [i.e. the Yezidi refugees] are invited for an interview on August 13 and 20,” noted Hamlet Smoyan, a board member of the “National Union of Sinjar Yezidis” NGO.

He believes that everything will go smoothly, and no problems will arise in issuing a status to these refugees.

The nineteen Yezidi refugees (three families), which have arrived in Armenia, currently live in Araks village in the Armavir Province.
